A Fragment of a Graeco-Egyptian Work upon Magic.

Translated, and with notes by Charles Wycliffe Goodwin, first published in 1852.

For many years, the first English translation of this, one of the most important Graeco- Egyptian magical texts was long out of print and difficult to obtain. The fourth part in particular became one of the most well known within Western occultism when Aleister Crowley published it as the preliminary invocation to his version of S.L. MacGregor Mathers translation of the Goetia. Crowley went on to declare the invocation the most powerful extant, later evolving the text into Liber Samekh, a ritual for achieving conversation with ones holy guardian angel.

This current book is a complete and unabridged facsimile reprint of Goodwins original text, translation and notes, together with his original paper announcing the work to the Cambridge Antiquarian Society in 1851 which is reprinted here for the first time. Fully resituated from the originals by A.D Mercer, this brand new edition also includes is an introductory essay on the modern translations of the work and its relationship to the Sethian gnosis by Richard Ward, and translations of the barbarous names of evocation that for some unknown reason, Goodwin failed to include in his original publication. Therefore, we believe that this new version of Goodwins landmark work is the most complete currently available.

Strictly limited edition of only 200 exemplars. Each copy hand-numbered and stating its exact limitation.
